The Historic Cashtown Inn - Gettysburg Bed and Breakfast The Historic Cashtown Inn. Tucked away along the scenic Lincoln Highway, the Cashtown Inn was built circa 1797 and served as Confederate Headquarters of Gen. A.P. Hill prior to the Battle of Gettysburg while the 22,000 men of his Third Corp camped throughout the town. Following the Battle, Gen. John Imboden used the Inn as a hospital and as his headquarters to organize the evacuation of wounded Confederate troops from the area. Farnsworth House Inn - Gettysburg Bed and Breakfast Farnsworth House Inn The Historic Farnsworth House was in theeye of the stormduring the battle. Over 100 bullet holes in the south wall of the house bears mute testimony to the death and destruction that raged around it.The house sheltered Confederate sharpshooters, one of whom it is believed accidentally shot Jennie Wade who died in the three-day struggle.
